Sharkblades: Reinventing Ice Hockey for a Sustainable Future

On August 5th, Ice hockey reached new heights - literally. At 3,454 meters above sea level on Switzerland's Jungfraujoch, NHL stars like Nino Niederreiter, Nico Hischier, Jonas Siegenthaler, Pius Suter, and Philipp Kurashev made history in the world's highest Ice Hockey game. They faced off against a team from SC Bern, including Ramon Untersander, Tristan Scherwey, Joël Vermin, Simon Moser, and Benjamin Baumgartner, with goalies Adam Reideborn and Andri Henauer. Set against a stunning backdrop of Alpine peaks and brilliant sunshine, this wasn't just about breaking records; it was a glimpse into Ice Hockey's sustainable future.

Adapting to a Changing Climate

Surprisingly, the temperature at this Alpine peak hit 12°C (54°F), far above the usual near-freezing conditions. This unexpected warmth highlighted the growing need for adaptive Ice Hockey technologies - enter Sharkblades. Our innovative Swiss-made Sharkblades allowed pro players to showcase their skills on synthetic ice, proving that Ice Hockey can thrive in diverse environments. As Jonas Siegenthaler remarked, "It's new for me to be on these rollers. But it comes pretty close to the feeling on ice, which is really cool."

Year-Round Training, Anywhere

Sharkblades break down barriers to player development. The ability to replicate on-ice conditions, regardless of climate or season, opens up new possibilities for training and skill development, potentially diversifying and expanding the sport's talent pool.

Shaping the Future of Hockey

The spectacular game atop Jungfraujoch was more than just a thrilling exhibition match or a publicity stunt. It was a powerful demonstration of Ice Hockey's potential to adapt and grow in the face of global challenges. We don't aim to change Ice Hockey in its original form, but to create additional possibilities. Our goal is to develop a new playing surface and innovative ways of playing that increase the accessibility of the sport. By offering sustainable options, we ensure that future generations can enjoy hockey in all its forms without compromising the health of our planet. But sustainability is just the beginning. Sharkblades are also key to making Ice Hockey more accessible and inclusive. By breaking free from the constraints of traditional ice rinks, we're opening up the sport to regions and communities that have long been excluded. Whether it's due to climate, geography, or economic factors, Sharkblades are helping to level the playing field. As we look to the future, we see a world where hockey knows no boundaries – where players can train year-round, regardless of their location or climate. We envision a sport that's not only environmentally responsible but also truly global and diverse. With Sharkblades, we're not just adapting to change – we're driving it forward. We're creating a future where Ice Hockey is more sustainable, more accessible, and more inclusive than ever before.

Let’s grow the game together! 💚🏒
